Along Minnesota’s North Shore, there are countless views to take in. Nature’s beauty and wonder are on display all around you, and it’s hard to settle on a favorite—there is always something new to discover.
This day, I happened to find myself near Artist’s Point in Grand Marais, a favorite stop on the way to the Canadian Border. I hiked out onto the rocks to feel the cool Lake Superior spray from the waves as they rolled in. I closed my eyes and breathed deeply of the crisp air and listened to the water gently break on the stone.
I thought of how long this bulwark stood up to innumerable waves, in the constant and unending battle of time. How amazing it felt to be present to witness a seemingly insignificant moment. To be able to collect the fleeting seconds of my surroundings into an image that can be viewed again and again, to take me back to those feelings in an instant. This image captures my thoughts and meditation in that moment, and to me, it’s very special.
It’s my hope that my photographs may show the wonders and beauty of the world to all who view them, and I am honored that people would display them in their homes.
