I was approached by Danelle, who was wanting to hit her Golden 30th birthday in absolute style!

She wanted to go all out with a massive party, incredible hair and makeup, beautiful customized gown, and all the positivity she is known for. I was definitely game for the challenge. I wanted to capture her in the moment of this celebration and create some stunning images. We were imagining that in 50 years, her grandchildrens’ jaws will drop over how amazing she looked!

Danelle and I talked at length about her shoot and searching for ideas and inspiration for our session. We came up with lots of different moods and styles, but when I saw the dress, I knew we had to celebrate it by going big! I was envisioning a modern version of those 1950’s prom photos, but I really wanted to go even dreamier with a super tight depth of field with natural light.

I also was loving the volume of the dress, so getting some motion into the shoot was an absolute must, even though it was bulky enough to make it a challenge. We had a great time putting the motion into the dress to make it pop in post production!

Finally, I decided it was time to make that dress float like a giant cloud, with our birthday girl swimming inside of it! I was so excited that I even forgot my lens cover was still on! I had such an amazing time working with Danelle, and we were all so happy with the results for such a special occasion!
